SodaStream Review and Giveaway *CLOSED*

Do you like soda?  How many times while you are drinking your soda do you think that soda is just water with bubbles and flavoring; so why can't you make it yourself?

Well you can with SodaStream!  With SodaStream you will be making soda literally with a simple press of a button.  And with all the different flavors that SodaStream has you will be able to be making all the flavors you buy at the store right at home.  The other nice thing is that because you are using CO2 you don't even need electricity with SodaStream!  With the Fountain Jet being as light as it is I figured that I could even take it camping.  Just pack the Fountain Jet and a couple flavors and I should be good since I would already be taking water; and some campgrounds even have water already there.

So when I received my Fountain Jet SodaStream I put it together right away.  I was super excited because I love soda, but don't drink a lot so it is frustrating to be paying for soda all the time especially with prices on soda going up.  It is an easy setup, you pull out the machine, and twist in the CO2 and the machine is ready.  I then filled up both carbonating bottles and put them in the fridge for the night.  I had already had my soda for the day and it was also pretty late when I was able to setup the machine since I was working late.  So the next day as my wife was making dinner I grabbed a bottle and carbonated it.  It took only a few seconds.  My first time I ended up carbonating it a bit too much, so after adding in the flavor (we went with root beer) and tasting it, I shook it up to remove some of the extra carbonation.  It was great!  It pretty much tasted like root beer you buy, the only difference is I can taste the Splenda a little, but beyond that it tasted great.  For dinner we all had some freshly made root beer! Over the next few nights I kept making more root beer.  I would always clean and refill the bottles after they were gone and put them into the fridge so that we would always have a cold bottle to make more.

On Monday we ended up having friends over to play some games.  After a few games I offered to make them some fresh soda.  Their jaws dropped and asked "you can make your own soda?"  I happily answered that yes I could with my SodaStream.  They were extremely excited.  So I pulled out my flavors and asked them which one they would like to try.  They wanted first to try the diet cream soda and they told me that it tasted just like the cream soda that they get.  Then we said to choose another flavor so could try more.  We decided to go with the orange mango flavor and I have to say that was the hit!  All of us loved that one; it is definitely going to be one that I keep buying for sure!

Last night I also tried the Cola flavor.  It was a lot better than I expected.  I actually like it quite a bit.  So far I think my favorites have to be the orange mango and cola, next would be the root beer, and then the cream soda.  The cream soda last mostly because I'm not a huge fan of it in the first place, but it was good.

The fun thing about having a soda maker is the ability to mix and match the flavors.  You can add as much or as little flavor as you want, and I have read that you can mix different ones to make up a new flavor.  After finding that out I was starting to wonder what the cola mixed with the orange mango might taste like.... or you can take your cola and add vanilla or cherry flavoring.  Which yeah you can do with regular soda, but I know I have done in the past and it doesn't work well, it starts getting too sweet and just blah.  With this you can cut down the soda flavor a little to be able to include the sweetness of another flavor.  The other fun part is you can carbonate as much or as little as you want!

I personally think this is a great idea and lots of fun.  It can help save money on the cost of soda and you can flavor it however you want!  It is easily portable and I can see myself taking it to family events and other things.  It will save on the bulk of taking so much soda to the events and you can make as much as your family needs, no more running out of soda and everyone dying of thirst, just take a few soda flavorings and your good.
