Ghoulish Punch

My wife found this on Kraftfoods.com and we thought that this would be the perfect drink for Halloween!

The only changes that we are doing is instead of the seltzer we got 7-UP, and we aren't doing the fruit slices. By not doing the fruit it will save you money, so it is up to you.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups boiling water
  • 1 package JELL-O Lime Flavor Gelatin
  • 2 cups cold orange juice
  • 1 bottle (1 liter) seltzer, chilled
  • ice cubes
  • 1 pt. (2 cups) orange sherbet
  • 1 orange thinly sliced
  • 1 lime, thinly sliced

Instructions

STIR boiling water into dry gelatin in large bowl at least 2 minutes until completely dissolved. Stir in juice. Cool to room temperature.

POUR into punch bowl just before serving. Add seltzer and ice; stir.

ADD scoops of sherbet and fruit slices.

Worms in Dirt

This is a favorite of mine, and a perfect Halloween dessert! This is fast and easy to make, most of the time that this takes is just the time the pudding needs in the fridge to set!

Ingredients
  • 1 package Instant Pudding
    • The most popular I have seen is Chocolate because of the color, but you can use the OREO flavor, or any other flavor that you like
  • Around 10-20 OREO Cookies, finely crushed
  • Around 10 worm shaped fruit snacks
    • I have used both gummy worms and sour gummy worms

Instructions

Make the pudding as the box instructs you to.

After the pudding is set:

Optional: You can split the putting into individual cups, or leave it in a big bowl.

Optional: Add some of the OREO Cookies and worms and mix it in.

Add the OREO Cookies to the top

Add the worms to the top of the OREO Cookies.

Scary Monster Tacos

These are simple tacos with a twist for the Halloween season that are a hit with the kids!  This is also a low cost and fast meal to prepare.  With its low cost and holiday look this is a great meal for parties or creating with your kids.

Ingredients

  • normal size crunchy taco shells
  • ground beef
  • taco seasoning
  • sliced cheddar cheese
  • shredded lettuce
  • sour cream
  • sliced black olives

Instructions

Cook the meat with the taco seasoning according to normal cooking instructions.

Lay a taco shell down on a plate and fill with meat. Top with shredded lettuce.

Take a slice of cheddar cheese and place it in taco (you can cut the cheese to more of a tongue shape if you want, we didn't and it still looked like a tongue).

Put two small spoonfuls of sour cream in taco and top with black olive slices to make it look like eyes (we prefer to put it in the taco because it is cleaner and easier to eat, if you would like you can put it on top too).

Then enjoy your scary monster taco!

Recipe: My Wife's Amazing Meatloaf

I wasn't one who enjoyed meatloaf that much. I would always eat it but it was never anything that I would want to request. It just wasn't one of those foods that sounded good to me, and it actually was one that made me kind of scared of what was going to be the result of dinner and if I would need to eat something later because I didn't get full.

That time has passed for me now and I have even requested meatloaf for my birthday, and other special events in my and my families life! Ever since my wife started doing this recipe I have actually wanted to have this at least once a week and would be happy with more (not that it happens, but I would be fine if it does).

Also, I like to have my wife make extra sauce to put on, so I would try it and decide how much meatloaf to sauce ratio you would like yourself!

My Wife's Amazing Meatloaf
Ingredients

Meatloaf
  •  3 Eggs
  • 2/3 C Milk
  •  ½ C Bread Crumbs
  •  1 C Oatmeal
  •  ½ C Grated Carrot
  •  ½ C Finely Chopped Onion
  • 1 C Shredded Cheese
  • 1 Tbsp Italian Seasoning
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • ½ tsp Pepper
  • 2 lbs Lean Ground Beef
  • 1 lbs Mild Italian Sausage
Sauce
  • 1 C Ketchup
  • 1 C Packed Brown Sugar
  • 2 tsp Mustard
  • ¼ C Maple Syrup
Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

In a large bowl, beat the eggs. Add milk, bread crumbs, and oatmeal. Stir in carrots, onions, cheese, and seasonings. Add beef and sausage and mix well. In a shallow baking dish, shape beef mixture into the shape you want or bake in a bread pan. Bake for 45 minutes, until meat is cooked through.

While baking combine topping ingredients.

After 45 minutes, spoon half of the topping over the meatloaf. Return to the oven and continue baking for an additional 30 minutes. Remove from oven and let stand for 10 minutes.

Pour remaining sauce on top of meatloaf if desired.

MyJones Personalized Soda Giveaway and recipe

I found The Dish on Delish and it had this great giveaway and recipe for myJones/Jones Soda. So head on over and enter in the giveaway for the soda, and then head on over to myJones Soda or Jones Soda and order some soda for yourself and others for these holiday seasons. Then with some or all of your soda you can make some Granita for you and your kids with the recipe from The Dish on Delish.

"I wanted to do something a little different with the Jones Soda. I’m sure you have heard of a Granita- if you haven’t, it is a frozen dessert originally from Italy. Depending on the region it can be chunky or sorbet-like and usually consisits of fruit juice, sugar and water. (I have heard some people adding other ingredients as well to change the consistency). Well, Jones Soda actually works perfect because it already has the sugar included, pure cane sugar to be exact. You can be creative and blend up strawberries, blueberries or any other fruit. Mint is a nice touch too.

You place your ingredients in a 9×13 pan (make sure they are mixed) and place in the freezer. You want to check on it every so often, probably every half hour or so and scrape it with a fork. This is the fun part. If you have kids, this is the perfect job for them. Keep scraping the ice mixture with a fork every half hour until it is set – and the consistency you prefer." - The Dish on Delish
